More than 70 dog sled teams from across North America will be competing for a $10,000 purse as the picturesque town of Cannington welcomes thousands of spectators to the celebration, billed as one of the best of its kind in Canada.
The Jamaica Dogsled Team (JDT) is coming to the Cannington Dog Sled Races. It may sound crazy at first, but wait until you see him race! Musher Damion Robb will be racing in the 6-Dog as well as the 4-Dog class, which will give everyone the opportunity to see why this is one Jamaican who loves the snow.
Damion spends most of the year in Jamaica at Chukka Cove working for Chukka Caribbean Adventures, one of the team’s sponsors. He trains for his short, fast races with a dry-land dune buggy cart. Damion’s success is even more impressive given he raced on snow for the first time just 1-½ years ago!
